Our Paralegal Department consists of a team of 5-8 paralegals who assist attorneys in all the firm’s practice areas, with an emphasis on the litigation and employee benefit plan practices. These paralegals are vital, integrated parts of our teams.
Our litigation paralegals work closely with attorneys from case initiation through trial, managing case-related documents and information, conducting factual research, and assisting with discovery-related projects. In addition to trial court litigation, litigation paralegals are involved in the cite-checking and preparation of briefs to support the firm’s appellate practice. The litigation paralegal staff also supports the firm’s union counseling and compliance practices by researching economic and policy issues, and by retrieving and organizing documents in the public record. At any given time, we have at least 50 different active matters in the firm in all stages of the litigation process.
Our employee benefits plans and progressive not-for-profit organizations are supported by two paralegals. Their work includes reviewing qualified domestic relations orders and medical support orders; maintaining rules, procedures, and records for plans and exempt organizations; and preparing submissions to regulatory bodies regarding compliance with applicable laws, among a variety of other tasks.
The firm occasionally has openings for both experienced and entry-level paralegals. For entry-level positions, the firm seeks candidates with advanced research and writing skills and excellent academic credentials. Starting salaries for paralegals are based on experience and range from $50,000 for entry-level positions to $95,000 for very senior positions.
