Dan Zibel joined Bredhoff & Kaiser as an associate in 2008.  Dan’s practice focuses on litigation on behalf of labor unions in a wide array of labor and employment-related matters.  He has experience representing clients in federal and state courts of all levels, including the United States Supreme Court.

Prior to joining the firm, Dan was an associate in the Washington office of WilmerHale, where he concentrated on governmental and public policy litigation.  In that role, he gained particular experience in constitutional and administrative litigation.  For example, Dan has represented several civil rights groups in a federal court action to defend Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act against a constitutional challenge and he co-authored the successful briefs in an appeal of an FCC regulation before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Dan received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2004, where he served as an editor of the Michigan Law Review.  At Michigan, Dan received the inaugural William Allan Lewis Kaufmann Award for his article, "Turning the Page on Section 5: The Implications of Multiracial Coalition Districts on Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act."  This annual award is given to the author of the best student contribution to the Michigan Law Review.  Prior to law school, Dan began his career in electoral politics as an opposition research consultant for political campaigns, PACs, and unions.  He received his B.A. from Haverford College in 1999.
